Volunteer Opportunities

Share your skills, gain new ones

Without you, young people in Beeston would be missing out.

Our volunteers are our everyday heroes!

At 2nd Beeston Sea Scouts non of our roles are paid. We are a small group of volunteers that handle all of the administration and day to day running that both a youth group and charity needs to keep going. We need people like you to join our group of heroes and make a different in the Beeston Community.

Make a difference, volunteer today

We’ve all seen Bear Grylls on the telly and the good news is that you don’t need to be him to join us. Many of our adult volunteers have never done Scouts before. We don’t need a CV and covering letter to join us, we just need you and your enthusiasm! We’ve had volunteers who are parents, who are from the Nottingham University, and also people who’ve just moved to the area and want to give some time to their new community.

Training

Oh no! That dreaded word! Please don’t get put off by training. There are a hand full of short e-learning modules we need you to complete for safety and safeguarding reasons along with a DBS check.

Whilst some of us to have qualifications in most water activities, most of us do not hold any other specific qualifications, its all learnt week on week. So don’t worry, you wont be thrown in at the deep end, you don’t need to know anything about Scouts, or badges, or neckerchiefs, you’ll pick it all up along the way!

You show up, get stuck in, and make memories for life. Sounds fun? Worthwhile? It is…

Non Scouting Roles

Do you fancy volunteering, but don’t necessarily want to work directly with young people? We have a variety of non Scouting roles that are always available. We rely on these people to help run the back bones of our group.

Trustee’s – The Trustee Board plays a vital role in the running of a Scout Group. Trustee Boards make decisions and carry out administrative tasks to ensure that the best quality Scouting can be delivered to young people in the Group.

Maintenance crew team members – Without our maintenance crew, we simply wouldn’t be able to operate safely. Our maintenance crews look after our Lilac Grove HQ site and maintain Barton Island. If you are a keen gardener or an expert DIY-er we want you!
Also if you are qualified individual, electric / gas / plumbing / tree surgeon / joiner / builder and want to give something back to your community, get in touch.

Fundraising Team- We are always looking for enthusiastic people to join our team of fundraisers. 2nd Beeston is a charity and membership fees paid by parents does not cover all of our outgoings, so we top this up by fundraising. We also have a number of projects ongoing that need urgent funding. We need people like you to help raise vital funds to ensure the group has all the kit we need to operate.
